Chinese Cinema Club "Disorder" Screening

The Museum of Chinese in America will be screening the documentary "Disorder" on Friday, August 12, 7PM.

 

Directed by Huang Weikai, "Disorder" was named "Hot Property" by Film Comment and Best of 2010 by Moving Image Source, Huang's one-of-a-kind news documentary captures with remarkable freedom, the anarchy, violence, and seething anxiety animating China's major cities today.  As urbanization in China advances at breakneck pace, Chinese cities teeter on the brink of mayhem.  Unshowable on China's heavily controlled television networks, "Disorder" reveals and emerging underground media, one that has potential to truly capture the ground-level upheaval of Chinese society.

 

The film is in Mandarin with English subtitles.  Followed by discussion with Chi-hui Yang, moderated by Kevin Lee of dGenerate Films.
